Stewardship

"Honor the Lord with your possessions, and with the firstfruits of all your increase; so your barns will be filled with plenty . . .." (Proverbs 3:9-10)

At Walk of Life we believe in being good stewards of our finances, time, and gifts. As we plant seeds into the Kingdom of God, we will reap the harvest.

TITHES & OFFERINGS

What is tithing?
"Bring the whole tithe into the storehouse, that there may be food in My house. Test me in this, says the Lord Almighty, and see if I will not throw open the floodgates of heaven and pour out so much blessing that you will not have room enough for it.." (Malachi 3:10, NIV)

The word "tithe" literally means "tenth", so the "tithe" is 10% of your income.Tithing is the method God has in place for His children to prosper. When you give into the Kingdom, you are planting seed that will grow into a financial harvest.

Each believer should tithe at his/her own church—ALL of your tithe must go to the church (storehouse) where you receive the major portion of your spiritual enrichment and education.

Isn't tithing under the old covenant?
Tithing did not originate with the Law of Moses. Genesis 14:13-20 tells us that after Abraham rescued Lot and took back all the goods, he gave the priest Melchizedek "tithes of all." That was about 430 years before the Law of Moses was laid down.

What is the difference between a tithe and an offering?
The primary purpose of the tithe is to support the local church—the storehouse. An offering is anything you give from the 90% you have left after giving God the 10% that belongs to Him. Offerings should be given to your home church and may also be given to support the Kingdom of God at-large.

An offering is not a set amount like with the tithe; however, keep in mind what Jesus said in Luke 6:38 —"Give, and it will be given to you. A good measure, pressed down, shaken together, and running over will be poured into your lap.  For with the measure you use, it will be measured to you." (NIV)
